You can make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.

The Alzheimer's Association provides opportunities for dedicated community individuals and groups to participate in a wide variety of roles. There are many ways to volunteer:

Careline
Careline volunteers offer ongoing telephone support for caregivers that are unable to attend a formal support group.  Volunteering may be done from home.  Phone cards are supplied as necessary.  Training provided.  Weekly to biweekly commitment.

Community Ambassador
Increase community awareness of Alzheimer’s Association events, programs, and services by the distribution of Association materials within your community following Association guidelines.  Commitment varies.

Friendly Connections
Friendly Connections is a telephone support network where volunteers make follow up resource calls to families and caregivers under the supervision of the Resource Specialist.  Volunteers work must be performed onsite at Alzheimer’s Association offices located at 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester NY.  Training is provided.  Commitment of 2 times/month.

Memory Gardens
Volunteers work in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Gardens, located on the campus of Monroe Community Hospital, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester. Volunteers work under the supervision of our Staff Gardener on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Commitment of 2 mornings per month.  Seasonal.

Memories In The Making®
Working in programs within the community with individuals with dementia using art as a tool to enhance communication, increase self esteem and celebrate memories.  Commitment 1x/week in 6 week segments.

Memory Walk
Memory Walk is the Alzheimer’s Association largest fundraiser. During the months prior to the event, volunteers are needed to promote the event (poster distribution, publicity, recruitment). On event day, volunteers are needed to help with set-up, registration, food distribution, security. Great opportunity to participate in the Memory Walk by forming a Team.

Office Support
Occasional general clerical tasks such as preparing mailings, labeling informational brochures and materials, collating and preparing educational packets, etc.

Public Policy and Advocacy
Take an active role in helping our political leaders know the issues important to those with dementia.  Join us in outreach, letter campaigns, lobby day, etc.  Commitment varies

Safe Return
A nationwide database identification program for people with dementia who are at risk for wandering.  Volunteers support awareness and enrollment efforts. Commitment varies.

Speakers Bureau
Represent the Alzheimer’s Association by increasing awareness of the programs and services we offer through talking to community groups or representing the Association at community events.  Commitment varies.

Supported Activities
Assist staff in providing social and educational activities that support families and individuals affected by dementia to continue engagement in their community.  Commitment varies with activity.  Training provided.

Support Group Facilitators
Facilitate a community support group for caregivers, friends and families of people with dementia and or people with dementia.  Most groups meet once each month.  Also available, on-line facilitation positions and Early Stage Support Groups.  Training is provided.
